PORT CITY DAILY, 4/02/24 The state will be increasing fees when it comes to getting a new license or registering a vehicle. The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicle adjusts fees every four years based on the Consumer Price Index, per state law. Increases of roughly 19.18% will go into effect July 1; it will affect 90 license and registration-related fees. Fees on licensing will increase roughly $1 a year or: · $5 on five-year license · $8 on an eight-year license · $4 on learner’s permit and provisional license · $2.75 on duplicate license Fees also will escalate for commercial driver licenses, copies of driving records, and other license-related processes. Private passenger vehicle registrations will tip up from $38.75 to $46.25. Registrations for commercial vehicles, motorcycles, for hire vehicles, house trailers, low-speed vehicles and electric vehicle fees also will increase. |
